SURGERY TIMES
Routine Consultation Times
Morning Surgeries
Monday to Friday - routine surgery runs between 8.30 to 11.00am for most of the
doctors. One of the doctors each day runs the emergency surgery for medical problems
that cannot wait until the next free routine appointment.
Evening Surgeries
Two doctors are in surgery 3.30 and 4.00 to 5.30pm.
The doctors request/expect that other than in emergencies (or if a doctor is away
on holiday) patients try and see their own doctor on a routine appointment. A third GP is available to discuss urgent medical problems.
Please note that patients are only seen by appointments.
OUT OF HOURS
Emergencies
Between the hours
of 8.00am and 6.30pm emergencies are dealt with by one of the five doctors of
this practice. Outside these hours and at weekends the Primary Care Trust is responsible
for providing emergency care. If you have an urgent medical problem which you
think may need the attention of a doctor, please ring the surgery number 0844 576 9377 between 8.00am and 6.30pm.
If you need urgent medical
help after 6.30pm and before 8.00am you can ring the Out of Hours Medical Service
on 677077 or 0844 045 0281. If you have trouble getting through ask the operator
to check for faults on the line. If the problem is very urgent ring 999 for an
ambulance.
John Coupland Hospital (Minor Injuries Unit)
The unit at John Coupland Hospital is nurse-led and is open between 8.00 and 10.00am
for assessment and treatment of minor injuries eg cuts, burns, limb injuries etc.
The unit does not have an attached doctor on site and cannot treat on-going medical problems.
Medical Education Updates
The practice is committed to trying to keep up to date with medical developments. Once a month we join other
Lincolnshire practices in closing for a medical education afternoon (target training). On that afternoon
there are no routine appointments at the surgery. If you have an urgent problem that cannot wait, please
ring the surgery on 0844 576 9377.
Dental Problems
When you have dental problems please contact your dentist in normal working hours. If the problem is urgent
and will not wait until then, ring your dentist to find the emergency contact number. There is a rota of
Gainsborough dentists who deal with emergencies out of working hours. You should not be ringing your doctor with
dental problems.
If you are not registered with a dentist, please
telephone 01522 515386 or contact NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
DISABLED ACCESS
The Council car park at the front of
the surgery has reserved car parking spaces for the disabled. Wheelchair access
to the building is via a ramp at the main entrance.
A disabled patients' W.C. is provided on the ground floor.
If you have difficulties with stairs please make the receptionist aware when you
book the appointment and again on your arrival, and we can arrange for you to
see the nurse on the ground floor.
If access proves difficult to any of our disabled patients we would be happy to
consider any suggestions for improvement.
